AMI Automation will participate in the
12th European Electric Steelmaking Conference,
from September 13 to 15 at The Diamond, The University of Sheffield, UK
& via online conference.

Learn about the latest AMI developments on
Monday, September 13, when Emmanuel Placier, Business Development Leader at
AMI Automation, will present:
“EAF Optimization Technology for Stainless Steel Production with Dynamic Model Applications”
within the Industry 4.0 session at 3:00 PM (GMT+1).

About the presentation

Aperam Châtelet, a stainless-steel producer in Belgium, commissioned AMI in late 2019
to install the SmartFurnace Optimization Technology on their 160-ton EAF.
The first stage included the installation of the DigitARC PX3 Electrode Regulator
and the SmartARC Module to optimize electrical energy input.

Dynamic Models were implemented to meet the different needs of
Austenitic and Ferritic grades, focusing on reducing electrode and energy consumption
and boosting productivity. Control of chemical energy using the SmartFurnace Oxygen
Module followed as the second implementation stage.

The third stage — currently underway — involves improved slag control,
a joint collaboration between Aperam, AMI Europe and AMI North America.
This presentation will showcase the technology and the results already achieved.
