at The Brewery Conference Centre, Stockholm, Sweden & Virtual Conference.
Learn more about the latest AMI developments on Tuesday, August 31.
Emmanuel Placier, Business Development Leader at AMI Automation,
will present the topic:
“EAF Optimization Technology for Stainless Steel production with Dynamic Model applications”
Session 22: Electric Steelmaking — 3:00 PM.
About the technology:
Aperam Châtelet, a stainless-steel producer in Belgium, commissioned AMI at the end of 2019
to install the SmartFurnace Optimization Technology for a 160-ton EAF.
The first step included the DigitARC PX3 Electrode Regulator and the SmartARC Module
to optimize electrical energy input. Dynamic Models were added to address
Austenitic and Ferritic grades, improving productivity while reducing electrical energy
and electrode consumption.
A second step added SmartFurnace Oxygen control for burners using Oxygen
and Natural Gas based on scrap density and specific stainless-steel grades.
A slag control module represents a third phase in the scope of this ongoing project
carried out jointly by Aperam, AMI Europe, and AMI North America teams.
