Monterrey, Mexico and Stary Oskol, Russia. After last year’s successful
installation of the complete SmartFurnace EAF Optimization System in Furnace #3,
in their facilities located in Stary Oskol, Russia, OEMK signed a contract with
AMI to provide this technological package to Furnaces #1, #2, and #4.
The AMI system to be installed in three EAFs, consists on the DigitARC PX3
Electrode Regulation and SmartARC for the Electrical Energy optimization.
The Oxygen, Slag and DRI optimization modules were also included to control
the Chemical Energy Input. With up to 70% of DRI in use, the feeding rate and
timing becomes crucial to achieve optimal bath temperature and chemistry profile.
The goal of the project was to decrease the production cost with a more efficient
use of electrical and chemical energy. With the achievement of the project goals
in Furnace #3 in 2019, OEMK and AMI reached an agreement to extend the installation
to the rest of the furnaces in the facility, a project that is scheduled to start
during the Summer of 2020 and continue until the beginning of 2021 when the works
in all three furnaces are completed.
AMI Automation is a leader in the global automation, and control markets they serve.
The goal of AMI is to continue to be the most service-oriented automation company in
the world. We are the leaders in Electric Arc Furnace Optimization Technology, and
